Welcome to Auckland United Oromo Community


Auckland United Oromo Community Inc is a self-help, non-profit association established to enhance social bondage among Oromo community living in the Auckland and its surroundings. Our goal is to represent, organise and assist the Oromo people to adapt New Zealand culture as well as to share Oromo culture with New Zealanders. We provide free social and educational services, and we also run different sport and cultural activities. We work with our partners and funders to ensure our community members receives the right information at the right time.

Our values are: “Tokkummaa” “Orommumma” “Obbolummaa” and “Hawasumma” roughly translated as “Unity” “being Oromo” “Fraternity” and “Social Connection”.

    Kia ora,

    My name is Samara, and I am organising an event in Howick called Celebrating Cultures.

    I was wondering if you may be interested in taking part in the event – it is held on the 23rd of March at Barry Curtis Park, from 11am – 4pm. There are many different aspects to the event: food, performance, art exhibitions, workshops, storytelling market stalls. We are looking for any cultural groups who would like to take part in the event in any form, and you would also be welcome to have a stall if you would like to promote your group. We are also running an art exhibition at the show, if you would like to take part in this. It is a mixture of local artists, and community groups from within the area.
